How long does counseling last?
A session usually lasts around 50 minutes but can be adjusted some according to what is needed. The frequency and number of meetings depends on each client’s needs. Some may attend weekly sessions for 1-2 months, some may have greater needs and attend weekly (or bi-weekly) sessions for several more months before deciding it is time to end.
Who do you NOT work with?
Children below the age of 14.
Usually, not with couples (unless the focus is on parenting).
Court ordered counseling for parental or caregiver custody cases.
*We can work with you to provide a referral for another counselor or helper if there is a need.
Do you bill insurance?
Yes, we accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, Viva, and Uprise.
If we are out-of-network for you, we are able to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company and request reimbursement.
We also accept private pay.
We accept credit, debit, and HSA cards.
Can you explain the limits of confidentiality?
Licensed Professional Counselors have an ethical obligation to hold what each client shares in confidence, especially your Protected Health Information (PHI), since we are required to follow HIPAA regulations. We are not allowed to share this information with anyone outside of our organization except for billing insurance purposes.
However, below are exceptions to this rule:
If any child or elder abuse or neglect is shared
If you are thinking about significantly harming yourself or someone else
If anything is court ordered to report
